Youjin Lee

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Youjin Lee began playing percussion at the age of 9. She participated in the Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar in New York, played with many orchestras in South Korea and had the chance to play with the UKO Orchestra at L.A Walt Disney Hall in the USA. She won 1st prize in the Korea National University of Arts undergraduate entrance exam, studied with Eunhye Kim and won 1st prize in the Korea Music Association Competition in Busan. She then studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon for her master’s degree with Jean Geoffroy, Minh-Tam Nguyen, Henri-Charles Caget, Laurent Fraiche, Alexandre Esperet and Hsin-Hsuan Wu. She is starting to realise her project “Racines” in the Artist Diploma course at the CNSMDL with Jean Geoffroy which she will finish in April 2023. She has participated in the TIMF Ensemble (Tongyoung International Music Foundation), as well as in several creation projects: “Who knows? Nobody Knows…” by Yijoo Hwang, “Resonance” by Germaine Kruip and on the interdisciplinary scene with Jeon Yunyoung (photographer and director), Jason Oh (editor), Alessandra Calovi (painter). In 2022, Youjin Lee started to work with the Percussions de Strasbourg on a regular basis and now supervises a group of the PERCUSTRA project.
