This May, we are delighted to announce an exceptional concert date at the Teatro della Scala in Milan on 24 May. Check out the programme below.

The month of April was also rich in emotion, and it’s well worth taking a look back at these three outreach projects: firstly, the project devised and supported by the Musica festival “EGAL=expérience d’écoute globale” at the Théâtre de Hautepierre in Strasbourg, a programme to raise awareness of deafness that questions the way we listen. Then a few souvenir photos from the Invariants trio’s tour of schools in Hautepierre. And finally, a look back at the project that was so close to our hearts: taking the residents of our Hautepierre neighbourhood on tour with us. The project ran from 25 to 28 April at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes.

PLEIADES & PERSEPHASSA – IANNIS XENAKIS

📅 Vendredi 24 mai
📍 Festival Milano Musica, Teatro alla Scala, Milan (IT)

The Percussions de Strasbourg will take over the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as part of the 33rd edition of the Milano Musica festival to play two great classics by Xenakis for which they are dedicatees, Pléiades & Persephassa.

Pléiades is one of the most beautiful pieces written by Iannis Xenakis. The richness of the timbres and the freedom and coherence of the composition make this work a unique rhythmic adventure.
Premiered in 1969 in the ruins of Persepolis in Iran, Persephassa is a spatialised work (with the musicians playing around the audience) that has become a definitive classic of the percussion repertoire.

As part of their partnership with 4 schools in the Hautepierre district of Strasbourg, where the ensemble is in residence, the Percussions de Strasbourg come to the schools every year to offer a programme, taking over the classrooms and playgrounds. This year’s programme included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata in Trio for Organ, Rebonds A & B, and Okho by Iannis Xenakis, which was presented to the Jacqueline and Brigitte schools and the Truffaut and Erasme collèges.

HAUTEPIERRE ON TOUR WITH US!

23 to 28 April, Nantes (FR)

Here’s a look back at a few days in Nantes, where we shared our daily life on tour with 7 young girls aged 13 to 15 from the “avenir jeunesse footbal” futsal club in our neighbourhood of Hautepierre.

The programme for this cultural and sporting trip, which had been prepared over a long period of time with the CSC Le Galet, included a tour of the pitches in Nantes and all the stages of a concert. The aim was to meet up, find out about the performing arts and forge links between football and music, where cohesion is key. It’s a meeting of two worlds, where the rhythm of the ball blends with that of percussion to create a symphony of emotions.
