The ensemble presents ONLY, a new programme featuring three pieces, six performers on stage and no instruments. Les Percussions de Strasbourg are continuing to explore and experiment with the body, an essential element for percussionists whose quest is the gesture leading to impact. How can we rethink the movement of bodies in percussive music?
Spray by Agata Zubel is a sound work for spray cans, where the sounds produced by the cans interact directly with the visual space of the spectator on large canvases placed on the stage. Spray is a performative act combining rhythmic work and plastic research.
Désordre by Yijoo Hwang raises the question of solitude and the impact of the elements that surround us. An expression of what runs through the human being, the performers in the piece break down invisible walls, involving the audience directly in their reflections, in a quest for appeasement. A piece for gesture and shouting, Désordre stirs up the audience.
Banquise, by Noémie Ettlin is a piece without music in which rhythm is expressed by the performers’ movements in a coordinated and meticulous manner: penguins on an ice floe working towards a common goal in contradiction to an empty stage with no apparent music. Banquise transports the performers into an absurd universe.
