Matthieu Benigno

He first discovered music through the violin. But attracted by the eclectic and playful world of percussion, he enrolled at the Conservatoire de Nice in Jacques Carré’s class and obtained his diploma of musical studies in 2006 with honours. During this period, he was an extra musician in the Cannes Regional Orchestra and the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, and then returned to the Lyon Conservatory in 2007. At the same time he is a percussion teacher.
Having always been interested in mixing genres and artistic practices, he took courses in clowning, burlesque theatre and contemporary dance to broaden his training. He is also (co-)author of musical theatre pieces (R.A.S., Ceci n’est pas une balle and Wahrnehmung) and co-founded the company Kalhua. This eclecticism has led him to work with the Arcosm company (Echoa, Traverses et Sens), Camille (Lalà), and Claude Vanessa (Ciel ! Mon placard) as well as the TaCTuS ensemble and Jacques Bonnaffé, Macha Makaieff and Pierre Guillois.
