CORBELLARI ARNAUD – Réflexion(s)

Creation: 08 July 2022, Place du Château, Strasbourg
Commissioned by: Passe Muraille
Musicians: 4 percussionists
Duration: 15′

The call for projects for the Cathedral’s illuminations was won by events agency Passe Muraille. Their mapping project translates into five chapters the intersections of nature’s various motifs, trajectories and paths, bringing together biology, natural history, mathematics and physics in the service of art.
A new, immersive vision of the world presented in the château square.
The soundtrack was composed by Ena Eno, a member of the AV Extended collective. His contemporary music is influenced by North American composers Steve Reich and Philip Glass. He draws on both traditional instruments and electronic music. Here, he mixes the sounds of nature with deeper harmonies and contemplative or more exalted rhythms to match the construction of the mappers and make the experience immersive.
This year, the mapping experience has been enhanced by live performance. Every Friday and Saturday, Les Percussions de Strasbourg have been invited to revisit the soundtrack live. Three percussionists will take to the stage to enrich the soundtrack with unusual sounds, and to introduce the general public to samples from their instrumentarium. Each Saturday, a Guest completes the line-up to create an original format, a crossroads of styles.
Guests: Ena Eno, Vincent Beer Demander, Illektré, Widsid & Mandal, NIID, INK, Encore, Aube
